It was either last year (2020) or the year before that my friends and I decided to do something out of the ordinary. We decided to go on a fishing road trip. We had no destination in mind. We had no solid plans. What we would do is to stop at fishable bodies of water and cast our lines in. That trip ended up being a foodie trip more than a fishing trip.

It is a well-balanced workhorse that is fun to use. It has all the bling you need and want, but in a package that will not attract unwanted attention. But if your fishing buddies start to brag about their toys; you can brag too, and may even leave some of them behind.

All Round Workhorse

The Abu Garcia Impact 2 fishing rod comes in a blank that is great for most types of fishing and suits most Malaysian anglers. Its 24 Ton graphite blank is awesome for fishing hard fighting fishes such as the giant snakeheads (toman), the sebaraus, groupers, snappers, etc. as well as the more mundane fishes like tilapias, patin (catfish), etc. Definitely an all-round workhorse.

What I like about the Abu Garcia Impact 2 fishing rod is that it is made for the rougher more adventurous outdoors where muddy treks, rain, etc. are part of the fun. The Impact 2 fishing rods come with rubber cork handle with a rubber butt end cap both of which are awesome when it comes to such adventures. They can handle dirt the way the old Toyota Land Cruiser could handle most terrain. They do not soak up dirt and they are easy to clean.

Strong and tough blank aside, the Impact 2 comes with heat dispersing and tough Fuji guides that can handle the harsh realities of using superlines. It also comes with Fuji reel seats that hold on tight to fishing reels eliminating slippage of reels when fishing. A reel seat that goes loose is certainly no fun to fish with.

I can certainly see myself with the Abu Garcia Impact 2 fishing rod going on camping trips. It is a lightweight, well balanced, tough fishing rod that is made for wild adventures. I will certainly not mind standing it on muddy grounds because I know that it will not soak up the dirt and I can easily just give it a good washing with the water from the river that I am camping beside.
