The Abu Garcia MAX STX looks good, thanks to the use of the colour orange in its mix. The reel comes in a silver graphite body, black aluminium spool and handle arm, orange bail wire, and orange rubber handle with a black cap. Its graphite rotor is silver with a black plate. Without the orange, the MAX STX will look just like any other reel. The orange certainly helps make it stand out.

Yes, the MAX spinning reel series comes with a graphite body and rotor. Although the body and rotor are both made of graphite, they are rigid and tough. The MAX STX reel foot hardly flexes. As for the rotor, it does flex a little but certainly can handle a lot more pressure than the reel’s limits.
Smooth Operations
When it comes to operations, the Abu Garcia MAX STX is certainly a smooth operator. Turning the handle is like stepping on the paddle of an electric car. The rotor is very well balanced, and it rotates smoothly at a gear ratio of 5.2 full rotations to 1 turn of the handle (depending on model). The gearing is smooth, and the 5+1 bearings certainly helps too.

The smallest model (size 10) weigh only 212 grams while the largest (size 40) weighs 278 grams. Being lightweight, the MAX STX allow anglers to fish for long hours comfortably.
