Abu Garcia MGXtreme reels are like the exotic hyper cars. When I was first acquainted with the Abu Garcia Revo MGX many years ago, it blew my mind. That was a low profile baitcasting reel. That to me was the Ferrari Enzo of reels. Exotic, sporty, high performance, and feels darn good. Then came the Abu Garcia Revo MGXtreme. My mind was blown big time. If the MGX was like the Ferrari, imagine the MGXtreme. What car could and would render a Ferrari Enzo boring? Perhaps the Pagani Huayra, or the awesome looking Lamborghini Veneno?

From low profile baitcasting reels, Abu Garcia eventually made the Revo MGX and MGXtreme spinning reels. These reels looked awesome and performed well, just like their baitcasting cousins did. This here is the latest Abu Garcia Revo MGXtreme spinning reel that looks awesome. It is Abu Garcia’s lightest spinning reel to date.

The Abu Garcia Revo MGXtreme 2 come in a matte black body and rotor, adorned with metallic red coloured  spool, dropshot sinker keeper (interchangeable for the usual screw on cap), etc. It comes with a natural cork interchangeable handle (to EVA) that gives anglers a better grip when battling fish. Holes at the spool helps to bring the weight down and to add to the aesthetics of the reel, giving it a sporty look.

As for performance, the Abu Garcia Revo MGXtreme comes with 11 stainless steel HPCR (High Performance Corrosion Resistant) bearings that have Salt Shield built in to block saltwater from entering into the ball-bearing chamber) + 1 roller bearing; to give the Revo MGXtreme smoothness when rotating. Adding further to the smoothness of the reel is the AMGearing system used that are tough and smooth.

On the weight reduction ride the Abu Garcia Revo MGXtreme spinning reel comes with the CMg (Carbon Magnesium) hybrid rotor. This well balanced rotor not only reduces the weight of the reel. It also rotates smoothly and is tough and strong, ready to take on big fish. It also comes with the One-Piece X-Mag alloy lightweight gear box to keep weight low yet remains tough.
