Abu Garcia ZATA Spinning Reel
In an earlier issue we introduced the Abu Garcia ZATA reels (spinning and low profile baitcasting). We had not seen the finished product then. Anyway, that was then. Now I finally got to hold, feel, and play with the ZATA spinning and baitcasting reels (the Zata spinning is not it the market at time of writing), and I like them. In this article I will focus on the spinning reel.

When I first saw the Abu Garcia ZATA reels I had some reservations with regard to its colour. Well, I was actually more shocked by surprise because of its colour. The reason is because army green, or rather matte army green is a risky colour to use. Some like it and some need more time to take it in before liking it. Anyway, it took a few minutes before the feeling of shock went. I then started to appreciate it. I like it.

Coming in army matte green, the Abu Garcia ZATA looks like it is battle ready. Perhaps a better word to use is “combat.” Yes, the ZATA looks combat ready. It looks like it is ready for jungle warfare. An encounter with the brutes of the jungle waters will certainly be lots of fun especially with a reel like this; the Abu Garcia ZATA.

Good Cast And Retrieve
With Abu Garcia’s proven Rocket Spool Lip Design spool and Rocket Line Management system, the Abu Garcia ZATA spinning cast further as the Rocket Spool Lip Design spool lip allows for smoother line flow with reduced friction between line and spool lip. A well arranged line in the spool helps too. This is done by the Rocket Line Management system that lays line in good order, ready for the next cast.

Good Stuff
The Abu Garcia ZATA spinning reels has one effect on me. It has grown on me over time. I like it more and more as time pass. It looks good, feels great, and I just cannot wait to take it to the field and see how it performs in the real world. From experience, Abu Garcia reels have done well on the field.
