Abu Garcia Tournament Trophy
Many years ago when Abu Garcia first launched the tournament rod series, it was a hit amongst the snakehead anglers here in Malaysia as the rods were tough and had a tip that is able to drag snakeheads right out of their cover and bring them back to land. They became the go to rods for these group of anglers.
I cannot remember exactly how long ago that was (18 years perhaps) but we had since saw many different variations of the Abu Garcia Tournament rod series in terms of minor cosmetic changes, but the rods have always remained true to the game.

This latest Abu Garcia Tournament rod series, the Tournament Trophy certainly retains the spirit of its predecessors. It carries with it the red colours that the Tournament rods are known for but with a slight variation this time. The rod comes in red carbon fibre wrap at the brand section instead of the usual glossy red.

The Abu Garcia Tournament Trophy rod series comes with the usual super tough 24 ton carbon graphite blank but this time made tougher with the addition of a carbon fibre wrap. This carbon fibre wrap gives it better rigidity, even more strength, and higher amounts of power. This makes the Abu Garcia Tournament Trophy rod a super tough fighter with even more lifting power.

Components
Like its predecessors, the Abu Garcia Tournament Trophy comes quality EVA grips with rubber butt ends, a quality that I like as rubber does not absorb water and provides friction when the rod is standing on its butt end. The Tournament Trophy comes with high quality Fuji guides, and Fuji reel seats.

The latest Abu Garcia Tournament Trophy certainly is good value for money as with all the past Abu Garcia Tournament rod series. They are tougher this time round with carbon fibre wraps. They certainly are great rods for handling hard fighting fishes in heavy cover. I just cannot wait to put them to the test to see how these new rods perform. That will be in a future issue.
